Rangeley riders: this is your chance to speak up and help shape the future of our trail system.

My name is Jeff, and my wife Sue and I are year-round residents of the Rangeley region. As members of the Oquossoc ATV Club and the Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club, we share a deep passion for the outdoors—and for the future of our local trail systems.

I was recently nominated and chosen to represent motorsports on the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust (RLHT) Outdoor Recreation Council. Through this role, I’ve gained valuable insight into the RLHT’s extensive conservation efforts.

To date, they and their partners have conserved—or are actively working to conserve—over 100,000 acres in our region.

Why This Matters to Rangeley ATV and Snowmobile Trail Riders

Decisions being made today will shape:

  • Where we can ride

  • How trail systems connect

  • How motorsports are represented alongside other outdoor activities

If we don’t speak up, those decisions will still be made—just without our input.

Real Progress for the Trails

The RLHT’s work is already having a direct impact on our trail systems:

  • 15 miles of snowmobile trails have already been preserved

  • The Magalloway project is expected to add another 20 miles

  • Collaboration with the State of Maine in the South Bog Stream area will secure additional trail miles for both snowmobiles and ATVs

While much of the early focus has been on snowmobile access, these efforts are also creating opportunities to expand and protect Rangeley ATV and snowmobile trails for future generations.

A Seat at the Table

The Outdoor Recreation Council was established in January to bring together voices from across the outdoor community—hunting, fishing, birding, hiking, paddle sports, and motorsports.

This collaboration ensures that multiple perspectives are considered as decisions are made about land use and recreation.

And for the first time, motorsports have a direct voice in those conversations.

We Need Your Input

To represent our interests effectively, the RLHT needs to hear from you.

What matters most to you as an ATV rider or snowmobiler?

👉 Take the survey now

It only takes a few minutes—but your input helps ensure that riders are part of the conversation when decisions are made about access, trail development, and conservation.

Why Your Voice Counts

  • Protect and expand ATV trail access

  • Strengthen snowmobile trail connectivity

  • Ensure motorsports are represented in land-use decisions

  • Support responsible recreation for future generations

The more responses they receive from our community, the stronger our voice becomes.

A Message from Oquossoc ATV Club

The Oquossoc ATV Club encourages all members and riders in the Rangeley region to participate in this important survey.

Closing Thought

Let’s make sure our community is not just included—but well represented.

Thank you for your time and for helping to advance our sports in the Rangeley region.
